Words of Encouragement and Wisdom About Sex
In the following verse, Paul describes that marriage is the “cure” for sexual immorality. Paul gives us encouragement through his faith in God. This is still very true, but beside that, now days, there are also Christian motivational books that can also be a very big help in your daily walk with God concerning marriage and all other relationships.
1 Corinthians 7:2 is essentially saying that, because people cannot control themselves and so many are having immoral sex outside of marriage, people should get married. Then they can fulfill their passions in a moral way.
In 1 Corinthians 7:2 it clearly indicates that sex before marriage is the definition of sexual immorality. All of the Bible verses that condemn sexual immorality as being sinful also condemn sex before marriage as sinful. We can learn about God, when we follow what His word teaches.
There are numerous Scriptures that declare sex before marriage to be a sin (Acts 15:20; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:13, 18; 10:8; 2 Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3;). The Bible promotes complete abstinence before marriage. Sex between a husband and his wife is the only form of sexual relations of which God approves (Hebrews 13:4).
Conquering lust is not always an easy thing to do, but with God there is hope and victory. God wants us to walk up right instead of living for the lusts of this world.
Far too often we focus on the “recreation” aspect of sex without recognizing that there is another aspect—the possibility of a baby. Sex within marriage is pleasurable, and God designed it that way. God planned that men and women are to enjoy sexual activity within the confines of marriage. Sometimes because of alcohol abuse or drug abuse, sex has not been used the way God intended for it. Recovery from addition is critical to live a quality life. Recovery from alcohol and recovery from drugs is the ideal way before getting involved in a sexual relationship, because drugs and alcohol greatly affect a person in negative ways that sometimes a relationship could not over come..
There would be far fewer sexually transmitted diseases, far fewer abortions, far fewer unwed mothers and unwanted pregnancies, and far fewer children growing up without two parents in their lives, if people abstained from sex until after marriage. Abstinence is God’s only idea when it comes to sex before marriage. Abstinence protects babies, gives sexual relations the proper value, and, most importantly, honors God.
The Bible condemns adultery and sexual immorality, but do you think that sex before marriage is considered sexually immoral? In 1 Corinthians 7:2, “yes” is the clear answer: “But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.”
Hebrews 13:4
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
1 Corinthians 6:18-19
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
Romans 1:24-25
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
